This home is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival domestic architecture in the state and is a significant example of the Greek Revival style. The original house was constructed in 1828-30. It was transformed in 1842 to its current Greek Revival style.The front porch is a three-sided porch graced by 10 large fluted Doric columns. The entrance double door with both transom light and side lights is located in the center of the house. Directly above it is an identical entrance that opens onto a balcony. The home features a two story foyer, wide heart pine flooring, and 9', 11' and 13' ceilings. In 1888, the kitchen, which was a separate building, was connected to the main body of the building by a passageway. Boxwoods lining the walk from the street date back to 1861.
