CHEERS without the BEER! Have you been looking for an opportunity to buy your own diner in a small town that feels like home? Here it is- the regulars have their own regular table, order and the waitresses know what to do! This restaurant began in the 1950's as the Amboy Café. The owner today, Spunky Miss Phyllis, worked as a dishwasher during the summer when she was a teenager. She left Amboy after she married but returned to her hometown with her family and bought the restaurant in 1986. For 38 years, the Stepler Family has been serving their friends, family and occasional strangers (they never leave that way!). They are known for their homemade food, pies and fish fry. When the original diner burnt in 1994, the churches, businesses and community members insisted that they rebuild. Everyone pitched in the money, time, and materials to make it happen. So do you want a restaurant or a place where everyone looks forward to coming together, sharing a good meal and a laugh? Does that sound like a dream to you? Take a drive to Amboy and check it out!
