In 1888, the kitchen, which was a separate building, was connected to the main body of the building by a passageway. Boxwoods lining the walk from the street date back to 1861. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It has been well maintained and in good structural condition. The home is well located 2 blocks from Court Sq. It has a rich history and is a landmark in LaGrange. The home is written up in "Pine Log and Greek Revival" by William Davidson, "Travels through Troup County" by John Lawrence, and "White Columns in Georgia" by Medora Field Perkerson.
